Submitting of images

Entries are to be emailed to images@creativecameraclub.co.za 12 noon on the day of the meeting.

Here are a few things to remember when submitting your images via email:

1. Any files received that do not conform to the naming conventions, will be left out.

2. The naming conventions:

  • <category>-<initials>-<title>.<ext> where
    <category> is o for open, s for shoot, c for creative
    <initials> is the initials assigned to you (for your convenience the initials are attached, and will be on the website in the next few days)
    <title> is the title of the image. The title should contain spaces to separate the words. Also use appropriate capitals and lower case.
  • Punctuation marks can be used. Try to keep the title concise.
  • <ext> is the extention for the format of the images. No bitmap (bmp) or TIFF (tif) files will be accepted.
  • Good examples:
    • o-zam01-The Photographers Eye.jpg
    • c-ZAM01-Tip-Top Shape!.jpg
    • s-Zam01-What next....?.jpg
    • c-zam01 This is also acceptable.jpg
  • Bad examples:
    • zam01-c-The Photographers Eye.jpg
    • c-Zam01-tiptopshape.jpg
    • S-ZAM01-There once was a farmer whose name was Old McDonald and he had a farm.jpg
    • c zam01 Baby Love.jpg
    • o_zam01_By_Night_And_By_Day.jpg

3. Sizing:

  • Images must be resized to a maximum of 1024 (horizontal) x 768 (vertical) pixels.
  • Save images in JPG. File sizes may not exceed 500Kb.
  • The software to display the images will resize them, saving in anything too small or too big will result in an image quality loss of your images. Use your photo-editing software, which employs much better resize methods (bi-cubic etc) to resize your images.

4. Submission rules:

  • A maximum of 3 images submitted.
  • A maximum of 2 images per category.
  • If the above is not met, it will be the discretion of the Image Manager to reject images.

For the Shoot and Creative categories, submit images which stick to the brief. It breaks the judge’s flow when images are entered into the wrong category. Images that are entered in the wrong category will be skipped and not scored.

Please always make sure that you have scanned (and cleaned) your attachments for viruses, etc.
